Vice President Sara Duterte has vowed to continue fighting against the greed of some high-ranking government officials.

“Fellow Filipinos, we will continue to stand firm against the greed of a handful of high-ranking government officials,” Duterte said in a statement.

“We will continue to show you, through our office, that having a sound plan, effective project implementation, a firm stand against corruption, and leadership anchored on courage and compassion are essential to achieving progress for our nation,” she added.

Duterte said she is determined to serve the country and fellow Filipinos with a dedication to good governance and operational excellence.

“Because of our digitalization efforts, we were given a special citation by the Development Academy of the Philippines for our ‘paper-less’ challenge,” she said.

“We were able to save more than 3.2-million sheets of paper. This proves that our commitment to efficiency and to the environment has become an integral part of our daily operations,” she added.

CoA’s favorable review

Duterte also said that due to the excellent financial report of the OVP finance team, they received an unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit (CoA) — the highest audit rating.

“This is a clear indication of our transparency and fiscal integrity,” she said.

Duterte also said that the loss of funding for her office’s social services this year was a big challenge. But she stressed that the government needs a stable solution for every crisis the country is facing.

Despite the lack of a budget, she said, the OVP’s assistance windows remain open.

She also said the OVP is always ready to extend assistance in times of calamities and crises.

A total of 73,054 families affected by calamities received assistance from the OVP, with 9,129 families receiving donated items.

“As part of our rapid response to the 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Cebu and the Mt. Kanlaon eruption, the OVP distributed 2,514 bags of 25-kilo rice,” Duterte said.

Just recently, Duterte personally led the relief operations in Negros Occidental and Cebu for families affected by the recent typhoons.

The OVP also provided aid to frontliners and rescuers. Its Kalusugan Food Truck has fed 1,866 volunteers, rescuers, and frontliners. -30-
