Miguel Tabuena picked up right where he left off, firing a four-under-par 66 to kick off his bid for back-to-back victories in the Link Hong Kong Open at the Hong Kong Golf Club on Thursday.
Fresh from his epic win at the International Series Philippines last week at Sta. Elena Golf Club, the 31-year-old got off to a blistering start, birdieing his first three holes from No. 11. He added more birdies on Nos. 8 and 1 to go five-under before closing with a birdie on 7, offset by bogeys on 2 and 9.
Tabuena sits six shots behind England’s Tom McKibbin, who shattered the course record with a sizzling 60.
Sean Jean Ramos, looking to rebound from a missed cut at home, turned in a strong 67 highlighted by seven birdies against three bogeys, while Justin Quiban carded a solid 70 to round out the Filipinos’ strong start.
American Micah Shin, based in Davao, was also in the mix after shooting a superb 64.
