The Philippine Navy successfully rescued a distressed fishing vessel and its 15 crew members off the coast of Zambales, ensuring their safe return to shore in an operation carried out from 2 to 3 August 2025.
In message on Tuesday, Navy spokesperson, Captain John Percy Alcos said the Philippine Fleet and Naval Installation Command deployed two naval assets — the Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC) BA492 and tugboat YT207 — to locate and tow the immobilized FB Moises, which had suffered engine failure during fishing operations.
Despite adverse weather conditions, the Navy completed the mission without incident, he noted.
On 3 August, the final towing of FB Moises was completed with the assistance of MPAC BA488, ensuring the safe transfer of the fishing vessel to Calapandayan Fish Port in Subic, Zambales.
All 15 crew members, including the vessel’s captain, were confirmed safe and were given immediate medical and logistical assistance upon arrival.
“This successful mission reflects the Philippine Navy’s commitment to protecting the lives and livelihoods of Filipino fishermen,” Alcos said.
“It is also a testament to our operational readiness and strong coordination with local maritime stakeholders.”
The Navy reiterated its dedication to maritime safety and its ongoing efforts to respond promptly to emergencies at sea.
