Vice President Sara Duterte has returned to the Philippines after a week-long visit to Australia, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed.
Duterte arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Tuesday, 24 June, at around 1:10 p.m. aboard Philippine Airlines flight PR 210 from Melbourne.
"Her return follows a recent visit to Melbourne, Australia," the OVP said in a statement.
The Vice President departed Manila on the midnight of Tuesday, 17 June, and arrived in Melbourne the following morning. During her visit, Duterte joined a protest rally calling for the release of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands.
Malacañang earlier raised questions regarding the nature of her travel, whether it was an official function or a personal endeavor.
Duterte, however, clarified during an interview at the rally that the trip was not a vacation.
"I do not like traveling at all except for holidays, and clearly, I am not on holiday for this trip. I am here to discuss with the Filipino community on ways forward for our country and of course how we can push the administration to do more for our country," she said.
The Vice President is scheduled to attend the 2025 KASARILYAAN, the OVP’s annual Pride Reception, in San Fernando City, Pampanga on Wednesday, 25 June.
