Personnel from the City Engineering Office of Malabon City check on the city’s pumping stations as they gear up for the looming rainy season. The local government of Malabon City on Sunday disclosed that its pumping stations are fully operational and ready for the impending rainy season.
The City Engineering Office has been tasked with ensuring the pumping stations remain in good condition as repairs continue on a navigational gate that has contributed to flooding during high tide.
It regularly inspects and monitors all 15 of Malabon’s pumping stations across various barangays.
These include the Paez Pumping Station in Barangay Concepcion; the Bonifacio Pumping Station in Barangay Flores; the Gabriel 1, Gabriel 2, and Talabahan Pumping Stations in Barangay Hulong Duhat; the Herrera and Suarez Pumping Stations in Barangay Ibaba; the Magsaysay, Sacristia, and Luna 2 Pumping Stations in Barangay San Agustin; and the MCM, Adante, Disierto, Rivera and Dulong Adante Pumping Stations in Barangay Tañong.
“The safety and well-being of each Malabueño is the first priority of our local government,” the LGU said in a radio interview.
To recall, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) declared the start of the rainy season in the Philippines on 2 June, based on recent weather analysis and rainfall data.
PAGASA also announced the onset of the habagat, or southwest monsoon, on 30 May. The country can anticipate occasional to frequent rains and thunderstorms, particularly in the western regions, though periods of monsoon breaks may also occur.
