Two judges from Japan and one from Poland make up the cast of judges while another Japanese has been tapped as referee for next week’s vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) light-flyweight title fight starring Filipino No. 1 contender Christian Araneta and Thai No. 2 Thanongsak Simsri in Tokyo.
The Japanese judges are Koji Tanaka and Masakazu Murase while the third is Leszek Janowaik of Poland.
Katsuhiko Nakamura will be the third man in the ring while Tsuyoshi Yasukochi, also from Japan, is the fight supervisor. Yasukochi is the secretary general of the Japan Boxing Commission.
Araneta and Simsri are set to vie for the IBF 108-pound crown on 19 June at the Ota City Gymnasium.
The Cebu-born Araneta, representing Omega Boxing Gym, and his team arrived in Tokyo late last week.
Parading a 25-2 win-loss card with 20 knockouts, Araneta will be fighting for the world championship for the first time but is upbeat about his chances of returning home not just with the belt but with the head of his foe.
Simsri, who is based in Japan, sports a 38-1 mark with 34 knockouts and is a known tormentor of four Filipino boxers, including the once hot prospect Miel Fajardo.
