Tokyo Olympics sprinter Kristina Knott has a chance to gun for a gold medal in the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, after qualifying for the final of the women’s 200m last Friday.
Knott, a two-time Southeast Asian Games medalist, clocked in 23.7 seconds to finish second in the heats.
The 29-year-old Filipino-American sprinter is competing in the final at press time as she looks to redeem herself from her blunder in the women’s 100m last Tuesday.
Knott was disqualified due to a false start.
Also competing at press time is Ernest John Obiena, who guns for his third straight gold medal in the men’s pole vault.
Also vying for a medal in the Asian Championships are Lauren Hoffman and defending champion Robyn Brown in the women’s 400-meter hurdles.
Bernalyn Bejoy also hopes to take home a medal as she is trying her luck in the women’s 800m event final as of this writing.
