Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco has been named one of the highest-rated officials in the Marcos Cabinet, earning a 92 percent job performance rating in a 2024 nationwide survey conducted by the RP-Mission and Development (RPMD) Foundation Inc.
Frasco tied for second place overall in the “Boses ng Bayan” survey, which assessed Cabinet officials based on public trust, responsiveness, efficiency, and visibility. The independent, non-commissioned study surveyed 10,000 respondents through face-to-face interviews nationwide and concluded in February 2025.
“This recognition is not mine alone—it belongs to every hardworking individual in the Department of Tourism and our partners in the public and private sectors who have devoted themselves to the mission of rebuilding and transforming our industry under the vision of our President in the past three years,” said Frasco.
“I express my gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. whose leadership empowers us to pursue bold and inclusive programs that uplift the lives of millions of Filipinos. This inspires us to work even harder to fulfill our shared aspiration of a globally competitive yet distinctly Filipino brand of tourism,” added the tourism chief.
Under Frasco’s leadership, the tourism sector posted record revenues of P760 billion in 2024, a 9 percent increase from the previous year and a 126 percent recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels.
Frasco's leadership has been marked by a grassroots approach and a whole-of-government strategy in tourism development. The DOT has expanded its reach across regions through initiatives like the Philippine Experience Program and the Love the Philippines global campaign. She also led efforts to improve infrastructure, introduce Tourist Rest Areas, upgrade digital tools such as the Travel App, and advocate for e-visa systems to ease entry for international travelers.
Additionally, Frasco has boosted high-growth segments like halal and Muslim-friendly tourism, gastronomy, diving, golf, and cruise travel, further positioning the Philippines as an inclusive and competitive destination. In 2024, the country’s tourism revenue hit P760 billion, a 9 percent increase from the previous year and a 126 percent recovery from pre-pandemic levels.
