Cagayan de Oro City — The City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (Clenro) here reported that truckloads of election propaganda materials, mostly tarpaulins and posters, have been collected after the recent elections.

The materials were brought to barangay Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) for segregation and recycling.

Clenro department manager Engr. Armin Cuenca said that clearing operations, which began Monday, will continue until city streets and public places are cleared of posters, tarpaulins, and their bamboo and wooden frames.

He added that the clearing operations comply with the Waste Management Law, which the city government began enforcing last year.

Cuenca previously commended Barangay Pagatpat for its full compliance with the waste management law and expressed hope that it will serve as a model for other barangays in the city.

He also urged residents to follow Republic Act 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, particularly barangay officials, to address the city’s garbage issues.
