Senator Christopher “Bong” Go visited Valenzuela City on Tuesday, 29 April, reiterating his commitment to delivering public service and assistance to Filipinos, particularly in healthcare, education, and community support.
Go was welcomed by Mayor Wes Gatchalian, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, and senatorial candidate Willie Revillame during his courtesy call at the city hall. Addressing residents, the senator emphasized that his visit was not politically motivated but anchored in his ongoing efforts to bring government services closer to the people.
“Umulan man o umaraw, tuloy pa rin tayo. Wala pong makakapigil sa ating pagbisita sa mga kababayan natin dito sa Valenzuela City,” Go said. He also assured the public of his continued support, “Totoong kaibigan n’yo po ako na handang tumulong nang walang pinipili.”
As the principal author of Republic Act No. 11463 or the “Malasakit Centers Act of 2019,“ Go highlighted the establishment of two Malasakit Centers in Valenzuela — at the Valenzuela Medical Center and Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital. These centers serve as one-stop shops for medical aid from various government agencies.
“Kayo po ang isa sa mga lugar na meron pong dalawang Malasakit Centers. At salamat sa ating local government sa pag-aalaga sa inyong Malasakit Centers,” he noted.
According to the Department of Health, 167 Malasakit Centers are now operational nationwide, having provided aid to over 17 million Filipinos.
Go also emphasized the need to strengthen healthcare services nationwide in his capacity as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, “Importante po sa akin ang kalusugan ng bawat Pilipino.”
On education, the senator cited projects initiated under the Duterte administration, including the establishment of Lawang Bato National High School (LBNHS) and Canumay East National High School (CENHS). LBNHS, inaugurated in March 2021, now accommodates over 3,200 students across 44 classrooms. Meanwhile, CENHS, formerly an annex of Valenzuela National High School, became independent under Republic Act No. 10205 and saw the construction of two new four-story buildings under Go’s support.
In the field of sports, Go referenced Republic Act No. 11470, which created the National Academy of Sports (NAS) in New Clark City, aimed at nurturing the next generation of Filipino athletes by combining academics and specialized sports training.
Following his city hall engagement, Go participated in a motorcade through the city’s major thoroughfares, engaging with local residents.
