In line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.’s push to make government services more accessible, the Department of Transportation (DoTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) are introducing a new home delivery service for driver’s licenses and motor vehicle plates. This service, powered by digital technology, aims to bring LTO services directly to the Filipino people.
The LTO Tracker, a new digital platform, will allow users to track the status of their driver’s licenses and vehicle plates in real-time. It will also enable delivery of these documents straight to their doorsteps via accredited courier services.
Secretary Vince Dizon called this a groundbreaking move, emphasizing that it marks a step toward full digitalization of government services. “This is a game-changer,” he said. “It will make LTO services more accessible, reducing the need for long lines and wait times at LTO offices.” However, he assured that those who prefer to pick up their documents in person would still have that option.
Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II explained that this initiative also aims to resolve the long-standing backlog of motor vehicle plates, a problem that has been around since 2014. “The President’s vision of digitalizing government services is key to restoring trust in the LTO and improving public service,” he said.
Motor vehicle owners can now log on to www.ltotracker.com to check the status of their plates, update delivery information, and even pre-book deliveries. The platform also features real-time tracking, so users can follow the journey of their plates from the LTO to their homes.
To ensure reliable service, the LTO has partnered with nine courier providers, ensuring deliveries nationwide, including to remote areas.
“This initiative will save people time and effort, bringing government services closer to the people,” Mendoza added.
The LTO’s pilot test of the LTO Tracker has been a success, completing over 8,000 seamless deliveries, confirming the system’s effectiveness.
Secretary Dizon emphasized that this is just the beginning of the LTO’s digital transformation, with plans to fully digitalize all services to cut down on red tape and improve convenience.
The LTO’s commitment to resolving the motor vehicle plate backlog and improving efficiency is part of broader efforts to enhance government services. This delivery service plays a key role in promoting road safety, helping law enforcement monitor vehicles more effectively.
As Mendoza put it, this service is more than just a solution to a backlog — it’s a step toward a more efficient and modern LTO for the Filipino people.
