Family is a meditation on art, memory and transformation. Henri Lamy draws from personal experiences — learning to paint alongside his father, witnessing the birth of his children, and immersing himself in the cultural landscapes of Marseille and Manila. These moments shape a body of work that is both intimate and universal, exploring the passage of time and the connections that endure.
Lamy’s paintings are dynamic and textured, weaving together collage, mosaic-like compositions, and sweeping strokes of pastel pink, sky blue and yellow. Figures emerge within swirling forms, evoking movement and change, while architectural elements and sculptures symbolize heritage and reinvention. Each piece carries the imprint of places and people, from traditional structures to contemporary cityscapes, bridging past and present.
At its core, the exhibition is an invitation to reflect — on memory, belonging, and the fleeting nature of time.
Beyond the personal, Family is also an exploration of community. Inspired by spaces like the Gutenberg Tavern, which has gathered over 500 artists and 10,000 visitors through workshops, exhibitions and performances, Lamy reflects on the collective nature of creativity. His process is shaped by artistic exchanges from China to Brazil and the Philippines, embracing collaboration as an essential part of reinvention.
At its core, the exhibition is an invitation to reflect — on memory, belonging and the fleeting nature of time. Lamy’s works do not seek certainty but instead celebrate the act of creation itself, a continuous dialogue between past and future. Through color, texture, and form, he offers a visual language for the stories we carry and the connections that shape us.
The exhibit runs from at 12 April to 24 May at the Altro Mondo Creative Space, 1159 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.
