As part of its long-term commitment to operational excellence, safety, and workforce development, Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced on Friday, 11 April, that it will reopen the PAL Aviation School as a prestigious training facility for new pilots under a strategic partnership with the internationally renowned flight training organization, Airways Aviation Group. The goal is to provide best-in-class pilot training.

Following a thorough evaluation process, Airways Aviation, a training academy based in Australia, was selected because of its track record of offering excellent, internationally aligned pilot training programs. Philippine Airlines' dedication to giving its cadets consistent, high-quality training that meets the most stringent international aviation regulations is demonstrated by this partnership.

PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng stated that Airways Aviation met their stringent requirements and demonstrated a robust emphasis on safety culture and competency-based training methodologies. He emphasized the significance of internal training in developing pilots with a global perspective, equipped with outstanding abilities and the innovative spirit needed to tackle future challenges.

According to Atty. Luis Carlos Fernandez, Executive Vice President-General Counsel and Officer-in-Charge of PAL, the reopening of their Aviation School will aid in the development of this essential workforce: people who are not only exceptional at what they do but also globally minded individuals dedicated to creating a sustainable aviation future. The substantial expertise and shared commitment to quality that both organizations are known for form the foundation of this important collaboration with Airways Aviation.

By strengthening both countries' contributions to the creation of a more resilient, secure, and competent global aviation workforce, this partnership also represents a significant breakthrough in Philippine-Australian cooperation in the areas of education and training.

"We are honored to be chosen as the official training provider for the next generation of Philippine Airlines pilots. This collaboration not only acknowledges our capacity for worldwide training but it also demonstrates the common goals and values that unite our two companies. We are investing in aviation's future together," said Romy Hawatt, founder and chairman of Airways Aviation Group.

By fusing local investment with international best practices, PAL has reiterated its dedication to developing domestic talent and ensuring its pilots are prepared to operate with the utmost professionalism and safety.

Meanwhile, Airways Aviation Group's Australasia and Pacific Division CEO Janet Dalby stated they aim to develop a seamless, globally integrated training experience that benefits cadets and the industry as a whole. This partnership supports the Philippines' workforce development goals while providing Philippine Airlines with the latest advancements in aviation education technology.

Following foundation training, assessment, and selection procedures in the Philippines, the first group of cadets will proceed to Airways Aviation's Australian campuses for further aviation theory and practical training. There, they will receive in-depth instruction backed by experienced faculty, cutting-edge technology, and real-world experience.
