
Delia Razon, born Lucy May Grytz, passed away on Saturday evening, 15 March, at the age of 93. A prominent figure from the golden age of Philippine cinema, Razon’s career spanned decades and left a lasting impression on moviegoers.
Razon was born in Iloilo City on 8 August 1931, to a German father and a Spanish-Filipina mother. In 1949, Doña Narcisa de Leon of LVN Pictures discovered her talent and gave her the screen name Delia Razon. She rose to prominence alongside her frequent onscreen partner, actor Rogelio dela Rosa.
Razon was married to Aurelio Reyes, and their daughter Rea Reyes briefly pursued an acting career before marrying 1980s actor Rey “PJ” Abellana. Razon’s granddaughter, Carla Abellana, is a well-known figure in today’s entertainment industry.
Over the years, Delia Razon starred in notable LVN films, including Prinsipe Amante and its sequel, and she continued acting periodically from the late 1940s until 2010. She also took part in television series such as Agila, Biglang Sibol, Bayang Impasibol, and Tayong Dalawa.
