Jagat, a map-based social platform that allows users to connect with friends, explore their surroundings, and engage with local communities, is now available in the Philippines.
Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Singapore and Indonesia, the app has gained traction in various countries, including Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Spain, France, and Singapore. Its interactive features, such as real-time location sharing, gaming, and digital mapping, have made it popular among users looking for more dynamic social interactions.
With its growing user base in the Philippines, Jagat officially introduced "Coin Hunt," an interactive game designed to encourage users to explore their cities. The feature involves virtual and physical coin drops in major urban centers like Manila, Cebu, and Davao, with plans for expansion nationwide.
The app recently surged to the top of the Play Store and App Store rankings in the Philippines, surpassing platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and WhatsApp.
Unlike traditional social media platforms that focus on content consumption, Jagat promotes in-person engagement and community exploration.
"Our vision has always been to leverage technology to bring people together and foster a sense of community," says Barry Beagen, co-founder of Jagat. "With 'Coin Hunt,' we're taking this vision a step further by motivating users to step outside, discover new places, and create shared experiences."
Thousands of users have already joined the interactive treasure hunt, uncovering hidden surprises in various locations.
Jagat is also exploring partnerships with businesses, tourism boards, and government agencies in the Philippines to support local tourism and small businesses.
"We believe that Jagat can be a catalyst for positive change in the Philippines," said Beagen. "By working together with local partners, we can leverage our platform to create more vibrant, connected, and engaging communities."
With over 20 million users worldwide, the app continues to expand its reach, adapting to different markets while maintaining its focus on real-world social connections.
