Former unified world super-bantamweight king Marlon Tapales takes another activity fight on 14 April in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
His opponent is Thailand’s Jon Jon Jet for the World Boxing Council (WBC) International Silver Championship.
In the main supporting bout, Tapales’ stablemate Joey Canoy battles Vietnamese Sam Minh Phat for the WBC International minimumweight jewels.
This will mark the second time Tapales will display his wares on Cambodian soil after making his debut there late last year.
His promotional team Sanman Boxing led by JC Mananquil and Sean Gibbons’ Knucklehead Promotions are joining hands with their Cambodian counterparts — KKIF — in staging the slugfest.
Tapales, who lost to Naoya Inoue for the undisputed title in December 2023 in Tokyo, is protecting his lofty in the world ratings by being active knowing that he is in line to fight for the world title again.
Once Inoue goes up in weight, all four titles will be declared vacant and Tapales will be called in to take part in the fights to fill in the vacancy.
