“Ako po ang magiging boses ninyo pagdating sa Senado (I will be your voice in the Senate).”
Senatorial candidate and Makati Mayor Abby Binay made the commitment as she cited her long experience in addressing the basic needs of her constituents as a local chief executive.
During the press conference of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas on Thursday, Binay said her experience in local governance has given her firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by ordinary Filipinos.
“I know your problems. I can relate to your daily problems and I know your concerns and your issues,” she said.
Track record shines
Binay said that like her fellow candidates in the Alyansa, she was chosen by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. based on her track record, capabilities and accomplishments as a lawyer, member of Congress, and city mayor.
“If you notice in the speech of the President, consistently he said “some of us are lawyers, some of us are congressmen, and some of us have experience in government.”
“We were chosen based on our track record, based on our qualities, our capabilities, and the service we can give the government,” she said.
Binay outlined her key priorities in the Senate, including free maintenance medicines for senior citizens, improved early childhood education with better-trained daycare teachers, and tax-free bonuses and overtime pay for workers.
