Wedding bells are on the horizon for former beauty queen and model Aya Abesamis and her longtime partner, John Spainhour, as they celebrate a new milestone in their relationship.
On Instagram, Abesamis shared stunning photos of the special moment, captioning them, "Life just got a little more sparkly." She also tagged Spainhour in the post, marking their engagement with heartfelt joy.
Abesamis is the eldest daughter of 1984 Miss Universe third runner-up Desiree Verdadero and her husband, JB Abesamis. She pursued pageantry, competing in Binibining Pilipinas 2018 and returning in 2019, where she was appointed as the Philippines' representative to Miss Grand International. Although she did not compete, she remained with the organization and is now a contract model under Ford Modeling Agency.
Spainhour, on the other hand, is a former U.S. Marine who served in Iraq for over five years before transitioning into modeling. He previously worked as a scout sniper under the U.S. Marine Corps.
Standing at 6-foot-1, Spainhour moved to Manila in 2011 and made a name for himself in the modeling industry. He won his first major title in the Philippines by bagging the Century Tuna Superbods championship in April 2012. That same year, the country gained recognition in the international scene when Filipino-British athlete Andrew Wolff placed first runner-up in Mr. World.
