During Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the White House, a framed copy of Donald Trump’s now-iconic mugshot was spotted prominently displayed just outside the Oval Office.
The frame features the front page of the New York Post, showcasing Trump's August 2023 booking photo from Fulton County Jail, Georgia. The mugshot was taken after he was arrested on multiple felony charges related to his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 US presidential election results.
The striking image shows Trump in a navy suit and red tie, with a stern glare and furrowed brows — a scowl that quickly became a symbol of defiance among his supporters. This mugshot made history as the first-ever booking photo of a US president.
Reports indicate the framed cover has been on display since at least 4 February 2025, when Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House.
Trump’s legal battles remain ongoing. In June 2024, the case was temporarily halted while judges considered whether Fulton County DA Fani Willis should be disqualified due to her romantic relationship with a special prosecutor involved in the case. By December 2024, Willis was removed, but the case was not dismissed. The Fulton County DA’s office has since appealed the decision to the Georgia Supreme Court.
