More than 14,000 jobseekers have been hired in Makati in 2024 through the city’s Job Referral and Placement Program.
According to Makati Mayor Abby Binay, from January to 14 December, 710 of the 15,967 jobseekers referred to accredited private companies were employed, a 92 percent hiring rate.
This surpasses the program’s annual target of at least 60 percent.
“The program’s success underscores Makati City’s commitment to address unemployment and support residents and non-residents in finding gainful employment,” Binay said.
The mayor also stressed the importance of partnerships with the business community to enhance employment opportunities.
“Through innovative programs and partnerships, we aim to provide more job opportunities,” Binay said.
In 2024, the Makati Public Employment Service Office (PESO) organized two major job fairs — the Mega Job Fair and In-House Job Fair. Two mega job fairs were held at Ayala Malls Circuit Makati in June and October.
These events allowed 915 applicants to register, 550 of whom were deemed competent, and 226 who were hired on the spot.
The PESO program connects jobseekers with employers and hosts job fairs. The city encourages residents and non-residents to visit the My Makati Facebook page for updates on job fairs and employment services.
