By using only renewable energy (RE) to power two of its main facilities, Cebu Pacific (CEB) is on the path towards decarbonizing its operations.
In collaboration with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), one of the fastest-growing energy platforms in Asia Pacific, CEB made the switch to fully renewable energy for its APlus and AirJuan buildings.
“A key element of further cutting our emissions — in this example, those produced by the usage of power in our buildings and facilities — is the transition to clean energy. By collaborating with ACEN, we may also benefit from the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Option Program, which will save Cebu Pacific money and help the nation’s efforts to increase its supply of renewable energy,” Felix Lopez, CEB chief human resources officer, said.
Buildings turn green
The APlus and AirJuan buildings are important for CEB’s everyday operations, as they house maintenance, ground handling and catering operations.
‘We are helping Cebu Pacific cut its carbon emissions and run more effectively by using renewable energy options.’
The conversion of these facilities to RE supports the airline’s overall decarbonization strategy, which includes converting to a contemporary and fuel-efficient all-NEO fleet, implementing fuel-efficient practices, optimizing aircraft routes, and electrifying ground support equipment.
ACEN RES vice president and head of Account Management Sheila Mina said, “We support Cebu Pacific’s dedication to sustainable aviation. We are helping Cebu Pacific cut its carbon emissions and run more effectively by using renewable energy options. Our goal of enabling businesses throughout the Philippines to obtain RE is in line with this collaboration.”
CEB continues to lead the domestic aviation industry in sustainability as 2024 draws to a close, establishing standards and promoting environmentally friendly air travel.
