Operatives from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended a Chinese woman for working illegally as a cashier in a Chinese grocery store.
Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Chen,” who was arrested in a joint operation with the Southern Police District Tactical Operation Center. The grocery store is located along Quirino Avenue in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.
BI records revealed that Chen possessed a valid working visa issued by the Bureau, but it was petitioned by a different company.
BI Intelligence Division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. explained that foreign nationals with working visas are prohibited from working for companies other than the one that petitioned their visa. Such actions violate the conditions of their stay.
Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado issued a mission order authorizing the arrest of Chen after she was observed working at the grocery store.
