Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III warned public utility bus and terminal operators on Thursday to strictly implement various terminal and public utility vehicle requirements.
Guadiz issued the warning after inspecting several Metro Manila terminals with Senator Raffy Tulfo, as inspections revealed numerous violations, including fees charged for using restrooms, missing fire extinguishers on buses and worn-out tires.
The LTFRB chief also stressed the importance of complying with requirements such as Global Navigation Satellite System installation, closed-circuit television systems, fire extinguisher availability, free access to sanitary facilities and security measures.
He reminded terminal operators that charging fees for restroom use is prohibited and that they must provide priority lanes and diaper-changing facilities.
Guadiz warned that terminal operators allowing colorum vehicles to use their facilities will face penalties.
To recall, LTFRB memorandum dated 8 November 2024 outlines the specific requirements and penalties for non-compliance, referencing various Department of Transportation orders and policies.
Guadiz stressed the importance of ensuring reliable, safe, accessible, environmentally friendly, dependable, efficient and comfortable public transportation for all passengers.
