French sports icons Marie-Jose Perec and Teddy Riner had the honor of lighting the Olympic cauldron during the Paris 2024 opening ceremony on July 26, 2024. Perec, a former sprinter, and Riner, a celebrated judoka, brought a moment of grandeur to the Games as they ignited the flame in Paris.
