DAVAO CITY – Following the New Year's celebration, the Davao City Police Office reported on Wednesday (3 January) that the city was generally peaceful based on their monitoring and assessments.
In a radio interview, PCapt. Hazel Tuazon, Spokesperson of the DCPO, said that there were no records of firecracker and indiscriminate firing-related incidents in the city.
"Based on our monitoring in all our stations and support units in the city, we are grateful for the help and cooperation of everyone as the celebration of the New Year was generally peaceful," she added.
Tuazon also said that there were no untoward incidents that took place during the celebration of the Pasko Fiesta from 28 November to 31 December 2023.
She added that DCPO expressed their gratitude to the Dabawenyos for their cooperation in ensuring the safety and security of the city by following the security protocols.
Tuazon also urged the public to continue following the security protocols in the city.
Meanwhile, Aisa Usop, the manager of Davao City Overland Transport Terminal said they have not recorded any petty crimes during the holiday season. She added that the terminal is fully equipped with closed-circuit television cameras for the safety of the passengers.
"Guards were also stationed at the gates of the terminal, including the employees' gate which they opened to avoid congestion," Usop said.
She added that they were able to reach their goal of 1,500 bus trips per day, which catered to more than 75,000 passengers.
Usop urged the passengers to continue following the protocols and guidelines set in the terminal.
She also reminded the passengers to only entrust their cargoes to official porters of DCOTT with numbers written on the back of their shirts.
