Sara trumpets OVP accomplishments

Vice President Sara Duterte trumpeted her agency's accomplishments since she assumed office in 2022.

Duterte reported that 10 programs, projects, and other initiatives are now being implemented by the Office of the Vice President for the Filipinos through 10 satellite offices and two extension offices in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

These programs are the Medical Assistance Program, Burial Assistance Program, Mag Negosyo Ta 'Day, Pagbabago: A Million Learners and Trees, PanSarap, Kalusugan Food Truck, Disaster Operations Center, Relief for Individuals in Crisis and Emergencies, You Can Be VP and Libreng Sakay.

"From July 2022 to October 2023, 106,958 Filipinos were given medical assistance and its equivalent is more P1.2 billion. Our burial assistance program has also helped 22,470 families and its equivalent is P130.3 million," Duterte said.

On the Libreng Sakay Program, Duterte said the OVP has served 523,263 commuters in Metro Manila, 89,605 commuters in Bacolod City, 60,409 commuters in Davao City, and 99,633 commuters in Cebu City.

The OVP's Disaster Operations Center has also conducted 162 relief operations and extended assistance to 115,045 families in times of disasters and calamities.

"A total of 23,807 relief boxes, 11,610 food bags, and 438,180 other relief items were distributed by the OVP through DOC. This is equivalent to P69.1 million," Duterte said.

Duterte said she is happy with the result of the OVP's PanSarap Program, noting that learners who are beneficiaries of this program saw a change in weight immediately before the 120 days period of its implementation.

"We first implemented it on 733 learners in Tamugan Elementary School in Davao City followed by 1,064 learners in Nuro Central Elementary School in Upi, Maguindanao," she said.

The Vice President added that the OVP has distributed 8,415 rice boxes to indigent families through the agency's Relief for Individuals in Crisis and Emergency or Rice Program.

The OVP's "Mag-Negosyo Ta 'Day Program," which was first implemented by Duterte when she was a mayor of Davao City, has now served not just the women but also other sectors.

"There are four groups with a combined 25,765 members received financial aid from the Mag Negosyo Ta 'Day Program. Each one of them were given P150,000 as capital," Duterte said.

"We also gave them (beneficiaries) financial literacy training to ensure that they will succeed in their project," she added.

The OVP's Pagbabago: A Million Learners and Trees Campaign has also provided backpacks containing schools supplies and dental kits to learners.

"Our dream is to provide 1 million backpacks and plant 1 million trees across the country before the end of 2028," Duterte said.

Currently, a total of 64,860 pagbabago bags were distributed by the OVP to school children and planted 178,167 trees.
