NCR train services resume normal operations

The Light Rail Transit Line 1, the Light Rail Transit Line 2 and the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 on Tuesday released separate advisories stating that the train services in the National Capital Region has resumed normal operations.

Operations in these train stations were temporarily suspended — for at least half an hour — due to an earthquake that hit parts of Manila on Tuesday afternoon.

The Philippine National Railways, which also announced a temporary suspension at around 4:30 p.m., is yet to announce a resumption of its operations.

Jackie Gorospe, communications chief at Light Rail Manila Corporation, the operator and maintenance provider of the LRT-1, said the temporary suspension allowed for a visual inspection as part of their safety procedure.

"There is an ongoing visual inspection before we get clearance to resume operations," Gorospe said in a statement.

Both the Light Rail Transit Authority — the LRT-2's operator — and the MRT-3 have given similar reasons for their temporary suspension.
