DAVAO CITY — The 25th Infantry Battalion (25IB) launched its first-ever book, entitled "Unraveling the Fogs of War: The Triumphant Journey of the 25IB and Stakeholders in Liberating Communities from the Terror of Communism", at Camp Kalaw, Poblacion, Monkayo in Davao De Oro, on 15 December.
Lt. Col. Michael Aquino, the 25IB commander, and Marlon Magtira authored the book which contains 103 sections and 10 chapters.
It contained a foreword from Vice-President Sara Z. Duterte.
"This book is the result of the painstaking efforts of our combined skills and passion for documenting what is beautiful and worth sharing for this generation and the many generations to come. All of us will go, but this book will stay," Magtira said.
Meanwhile, Aquino said that the story of the 25IB is worth telling, and the book is part of the unit's 50th anniversary.
"If there's one thing we want to convey in writing this book, it's the idea of creating a culture for the next generation, a generation that will embrace a culture of peace," he added.
On the other hand, Davao De Oro Governor Dorothy Montejo-Gonzaga thanked the men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for their efforts in making the province safe and peaceful.
"The province achieved an insurgency-free status because of the strong collaboration and support of all public and private stakeholders to the soldiers, specifically the 10th Infantry Division and the 25IB," she added.
B/Gen. Allan Hambala, the 10ID commander, congratulated the men and women of 25IB for the successful launch of its first-ever book.
"Their triumph stands as a testament to the power of military and civilian stakeholders' partnership, highlighting the effectiveness of collaborative action in combating insurgency," he added.
