Some children's Christmas was nearly spoiled when their gifts from Santa got messed up due to unexpected mishaps.
A mother and her three young children were on the road on Christmas Day when their car veered off Interstate 95, struck a pole, rolled, and ended up in a ditch with about three feet of water, the Volusia Sheriff's Office in Florida, USA reported, according to Fox News.
Fortunately, the family suffered only minor injuries and were quickly rescued by bystanders and first responders who brought them to the hospital. The only concern was the kids' Christmas presents left in the car.
Deputies, firefighters, and first responders at the crash site formed a human chain and recovered all the presents from the submerged car.
"Because of these efforts, deputies were able to transport the gifts to the VSO office, where they were sorted, dried, supplemented with a few extra donated gifts, and then brought to the hospital for the children," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook, Fox News reported.
In North Carolina, it was 3 a.m. when couple Scott and Katie Reintgen were roused by their 3-year-old son loudly asking for a pair of scissors, USA Today reported. The toddler was excited to open his presents.
The parents went downstairs and were shocked to see all the gifts under the Christmas tree unwrapped with the ripped wrappers strewn across the floor. The father posted a photo of the mess, drawing millions of views on X.
The father quoted his son as telling him that he unwrapped the gifts "to be less confusing for everybody."
The parents put their son back to bed and painstakingly rewrapped everyone's gift using the torn wrappers on the floor.
"Some of the gifts were half-wrapped, and we put the backs of them to the wall," Mrs. Reintgen said, according to USA Today.
The two Reintgen boys and their baby sister opened their gifts upon waking up and didn't mind the wrinkled wraps. The middle child responsible for the chaos kept telling his elder brother, "I told you were gonna get that one."
