The Yuletide is a season for caroling and gift-giving. One elderly woman received a surprise gift — a private holiday performance by local singer Juan Karlos, who was caroling for fans.
As promised on his Facebook post, Karlos visited the home of Mama Luming and sang his new song, "Maligayang Pasko," his first Christmas song, GMA News reported.
A viral TikTok video of the encounter showed the granny expressing joy by hugging her idol and calling him her "bunso" (youngest child).
Mama Luming also praised Karlos for being kind-hearted and said it was her first time to see a handsome guy, referring to the crooner whose song "ERE" ranks No. 2 on Spotify's Global Viral Songs.
He is the first Filipino singer to make it to the online chart.
Meanwhile, hundreds of tribe members from Talaingod, Davao del Norte have been hitting the city streets to beg for alms and gifts from motorists.
With the spirit of charity filling the air, the indigenous people, or IP, received a good share of cash and gifts from generous passing donors. Per their practice, they divide all the money and gifts collected among themselves.
As some of the IP men were celebrating their collections with liquor, they got into an argument on how to divide it. The dispute turned violent, and a rumble ensued, according to Police Lt. Col. Ronald Lao, chief of Sta. Ana Police Station, GMA News reported.
Police responded and tried to break up the fight, but some of the men ignored the officers and continued to exchange blows.
After the cops finally restored order, they hauled all of them, including children, in a truck and sent them home.
