Baguio still walking pneumonia-free

BAGUIO CITY — The local government's City Health Services Office announced on Friday that there are still no recorded cases of the "walking pneumonia" — a new trending respiratory disease.

However, the Health Services Office stressed that residents of Baguio City should still be wary of the disease and encouraged the public to wear mask and similar to during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, they should avoid crowded places where there are lots of people coming from different places.

The "walking pneumonia" is caused by bacteria called Mycoplasma pneumonia, according to health experts.

Meantime, City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit's Marie Magsino also revealed that influenza cases rise in the city which is higher that the number of cases last year.

She added that there is free vaccination against pneumonia and at present, the priority for the vaccination are senior citizens.
