The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reports this afternoon that a possible wreckage of the Piper PA-32-300 aircraft with registry number RP-C1234 has been identified.
According to the CAAP, a helicopter sighting was used to identify the wreckage; however, the pilot and passenger situation were still unknown.
At 7:39 a.m. today, two Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopters—one Sokol and one Huey helicopter—with the call sign ANGFLT took off from Cauayan Airport. The previous call sign ANGEL922's prior flight plan, which was supposed to call for a 10:00 a.m. departure, was canceled.
Investigators from the CAAP Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) are already on the ground. Once the exact location has been identified, they will collaborate with the SAR to conduct an investigation.
