Police end suspect’s 7-year life on run

Police ended a 30-year-old murder suspect's seven years of flight with his arrest Monday at the parking entrance of a mall in Manila.

Presently detained at the MPD-SmaRT (Special Mayor Reaction Team) is the suspect identified as John Evereth Villalon, alias Indong, a businessman at 630 J. Marzan Street, Sampaloc, Manila.

He was arrested at 10:30 a.m. by the team led by  PEMS Dedimo Alviar while entering the parking area of the mall.

The arrest stemmed from the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by  Manila Regional Trial Court Presiding Judge Julie Aylene D. Mendoza, Presiding Judge of Branch 11, dated 27 February 2025.

The court order came with bail recommended at P120,000 for his temporary freedom.

A tip from a confidential informant given to the police followed by a thorough surveillance work led to the successful arrest of the suspect.
