Dal or pea soup is a typical dish in India. However, employees of Electronics System Design and Manufacturing in Hyderabad were treated to a stomach-churning version of the soup in the company canteen last July.

One EESDM employee eating lunch at the canteen discovered a dead tiny snake in a serving of dal, and the ensuing complaint spread on the workers' group chat app, India Today reported.

With a thousand employees who ate dal in the canteen that day, anger quickly spread among the workers, who staged a surprise protest against the company's management.

No one was harmed, though, and no charges were filed, according to India Today.

Meanwhile, a pizza chain in Hong Kong is offering patrons an exotic pie until 22 November.

Pizza Hut Hong Kong and the island's hundred-year-old restaurant Ser Wong Fun collaborated to create the 9-inch pizza with a mix of meat that is enticing to discriminating foodies.

The pizza restaurant claims the "nourishing" meat helps "boost blood circulation," the New York Post reported.

"Combined with pizza, it marks a breakthrough from the conventional concept of what maintaining good health means while challenging one's taste buds," it added, according to NYP.

One local patron who tried the pizza described its meat as having a chicken texture and seafood taste.

"I love having it as a high protein meal during winter," said Hong Konger Rachel Wong.

However, self-described foodie Mabel Sieh said the pizza is scary to eat, with its abalone sauce instead of tomato, black mushrooms, Chinese dried ham and shredded snake meat.
