The Bureau of Immigration announced on Wednesday the arrest of a Taiwanese national wanted by authorities in Taipei for engaging in telecommunications fraud.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the arrested fugitive as Shan Yu-Hsuan, a 40-year-old male, who was arrested last Friday (17 November) along F.B. Harrison Street, Pasay City, by operatives from the BI Fugitive Search Unit.

Tansingco said that he issued a mission order for the arrest of Shan due to the request of the Taiwanese government for his deportation so he could face charges for the crime filed against him.

The BI chief added that he will be deported after the BI Board of Commissioners issues the order for his summary deportation. Shan's name will also be included in the BI blacklist to prevent him from re-entering the country.

Records from the bureau showed that Shan is already overstaying his visa. He did not extend his visa, and his last entry date was 10 October 2019.
