ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao recently turned over a P20-million two-story school building to Kibayao High School in Carmen, Cotabato Province.

MBHTE Deputy Minister Haron Meling on Friday said that the turnover of the education building last 3 November to Kibayao High School was a fulfilled mission of BARMM  to provide quality education in Carmen town.

Kibayao is a barangay located about eight kilometers west of Carmen Municipality in Cotabato Province who opted to join BARMM during the plebiscite in 2019.

Meling said that before the construction of the school building at the Kibayao High School, crowded classrooms with others even standing during classes were observed.

"Standing in a classroom during classes was a normal scene in the Kibayao High School and it became more difficult during the rainy season due to oozing water from the roof," Meling said.

He also stressed that the people of Kibayao have actively joined Bangsamoro's self-determination quest.

"It is important to recognize individual efforts for the collective gains of peace to take care of the facility as one of the gains of the peace covenant," the MBHTE deputy minister said.

"I call on everyone to please take care of this building as it would mold the dreams of our young people."

Improving access to quality and holistic education through the strengthening of the education system is among the top priorities of BARMM chief minister Ahod Ebrahim.
