In commemoration of the 31st National Children's Month this November, the Department of Social Welfare and Development has called on various sectors to unite in enhancing the health and nutrition of children.
The public is encouraged to promote MAKABATA Helpline 1383, a hotline established to provide immediate response, monitoring, and feedback via calls, email, and various social media platforms concerning child rights and concerns.
The NCM, mandated by Republic Act 10661, underscores the importance of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 November 1989.
To kick off the month-long celebration, a ceremony will be held on Monday, 6 November, in Valenzuela City. The event will include a parade featuring children participants, messages of support from children, youth leaders, national agency partners, and child rights supporters and advocates.
On the same day, children and youth under 18 years of age will enjoy a free one-day ride on the Metro Rail Transit — 3 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The culminating activity for the NCM celebration is scheduled for November 28 in Taguig City.
