GenSan nixes ‘pass-through’ fees

General Santos City — The local government here revealed that there will be no pass-through fees being imposed to all vehicles carrying or transporting goods and merchandise.

In an interview with DAILY TRIBUNE, General Santos City Administrator Atty. Franklin Gacal said that the local tax ordinance of the city clearly states that there will be no pass-through fees to be imposed, adding that only delivery van tax is being charged with vans or transport vehicles inside the city.

To recall, Executive Order 41, which was issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., ordered that there will be a prohibition of collection of fees to all vehicles transporting goods and merchandise while using the national roads and other roads.

The said EO aims to reduce logistical woes since it affects the price of consumer goods and other basic produce.
