Older adults do things they could not do for some reason when they were young.
Dorothy Hoffner of Chicago, USA, with Derek Baxter, skydived in Ottawa, Illinois on 1 October. They landed to a cheering crowd, including local reporters documenting the historic event.
It was not an ordinary skydive for Hoffner. She is, after all, 104 years old. Doing the stunt at such an age was incredible and a feat as she set a new world record by becoming the oldest skydiver, according to local media.
Hoffner beat the Guinness World Record of Swede Rut Linnéa Ingegärd Larsson, who parachuted in May 2022 at age 103.
It was actually Hoffner's second skydive. She also parachuted when she was 100.
Sameeran of Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India, is not the adventuresome type of person. She preferred studying, which she could have done better in her younger years.
After attending the Chawli Primary School for six months, Sameeran learned how to read, write and count, NDTV reported.
The school's principal, Dr. Pratibha Sharma, encouraged Sameeran to finish her primary education. According to Sharma, she went to him asking about a pension, and he promised to help her in exchange for coming to school to study.
Only by being literate would Sameeran be able to write her name on her pension form, the principal told her, according to NDTV.
That was enough motivation for the 92-year-old great-grandmother to take up the challenge and succeed.
