Mikhail Kristopher "Coco" Torre, commissioner of the Philippines Football League, has been appointed as general secretary Philippine Football Federation.

The federation made the formal announcement on Monday night almost two weeks since Torre's appointment was approved by the PFF Executive Committee last 23 September following the endorsement of PFF president Mariano "Nonong" Araneta Jr.

Torre, who is also the PFF head of competitions, replaced former general secretary Edwin Gastanes Jr., who resigned from the post last 30 September.

Araneta, who also served as the country's chief of mission in the Tokyo Olympics, is confident Torre is fit for the position.

"We have trust and confidence in Coco Torre, a young and dynamic leader, who has demonstrated tremendous work ethic and integrity in carrying out different roles in the PFF in the past," Araneta said.

"I look forward to a more collaborative PFF that further empowers stakeholders in our efforts to promote and develop football in the country. I look forward to working closely with him for the remainder of my term."

Torre is excited and up to the task of being one of the high-ranking officials of one of the oldest national sport associations in the Philippines.

"It is a great honor to serve Philippine football at this kind of level," Torre, who has previously worked at the federation's media department and was also a key staff member of the PFL during its early years, said.

"I thank PFF president Mariano Araneta and the PFF Executive Committee for their trust and confidence to get the tasks done until the next administration comes in. With this, I'm very excited to work with the many stakeholders of Philippine Football such as the PFF Member Associations and Clubs, partners, coaches, fans, and most especially the players. The important aspect of this appointment is not only the tasks we can achieve in the short term but also the collaborative vision that can pave the way for Philippine football's future."

Torre's term officially started last 1 October.
