A senior high school student shot herself in the head and died instantly early dawn Monday in Tondo Manila.

P/Cpl. Sir Christian Joseph Pineda of the Manila Police District — Homicide Section, identified the victim as Claire James Estrella, 17, resident of 324 Nepomucenon Street, Tondo, Manila who succumbed to a bullet wound right in the temple (forehead).

Investigation revealed that the incident occurred at around 12:15 a.m. inside the house of the victim.

According to witness Hernando Domondon, 43, pump mechanic, they were about to sleep with her wife when they suddenly heard a loud gunfire at a nearby house. They immediately rushed to investigate where the sound came from.

It was learned that the gun used by the victim belongs to his father, Rommel Estrella, which was taken from  the vault.

Investigation is now ongoing to determine the motive of the suicide.
