5 gun-carrying suspects fall in police ops

Operatives of the Manila Police District, in three separate operations, arrested five individuals in possession of handguns Wednesday, 30 August.

Caught during a combined police –Commision on Elections checkpoint in Binondo was a 33-year-old man who was accosted for not wearing a helmet last Wednesday at around 6:43 p.m. along San Fernando Street, near corner Asuncion Street, Binondo, Manila.

The suspect was identified as Mark Anthony Garais y Anglo, 33 years old, male, single, and residing at 278 Maginoo Steet, Barangay 104, Tondo, Manila.

Police said after he was accosted, Garais became uncooperative when he was flagged down for driving a motorcycle without wearing a helmet.

Subsequently, one 9 mm Taurus G3c with serial number ABM252748 with a magazine loaded with 10 live ammunitions, without pertinent documents, was recovered inside the sling bag of the suspect.

Violations of Article 151 of the RPC (Disobedience to a person in Authority), RA 10054 (Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
