Angkas, MMDA ink pact on moto taxi industry safety

Angkas, the leading motorcycle taxi service provider in the Philippines, has taken a significant step towards enhancing safety and professionalism in the motorcycle taxi sector by partnering with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

In a landmark initiative, Angkas has donated 20 motorcycles to the MMDA Riding Academy and will provide its comprehensive training curriculum to the MMDA to ensure riders are adequately equipped to carry passengers safely.

The ceremonial turnover and Memorandum of Agreement signing took place at the MMDA's main office in Pasig and was attended by prominent figures in both organizations. George Royeca, CEO of Angkas, David Medrana, Head of Operations at Angkas and Atty. Don Artes, acting chairperson of the MMDA, were present to mark this momentous occasion.

Angkas CEO George Royeca emphasized the importance of education and training in the motorcycle taxi sector.

"For Angkas, safety and professionalism have always been our top priorities. We believe that education and training should be at the core of legitimizing the motorcycle taxi industry. This partnership with the MMDA is a significant step forward in ensuring that riders are well-prepared to transport passengers safely," said Royeca.

Under this partnership, Angkas has generously donated 20 motorcycles to the MMDA Riding Academy, allowing the academy to expand its training capacity and better equip aspiring motorcycle taxi drivers.

Furthermore, Angkas will be lending its comprehensive training curriculum to the MMDA to ensure that riders are trained to the highest safety standards, particularly in handling passengers.

Artes, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude for Angkas's commitment to promoting safety.

The collaboration between Angkas and the MMDA is a significant step towards fostering a safer and more professional motorcycle taxi industry. By combining Angkas's expertise and the MMDA's dedication to road safety, this partnership aims to set new standards for motorcycle taxi service in the Philippines, ultimately benefitting both riders and passengers.
