LTO helping in drive vs smuggled vehicles

Published on

Land Transportation Office Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II on Tuesday vowed to assist in the campaign against smuggling of vehicles into the country.

Mendoza said they will strengthen the coordination with the Bureau of Customs which is the lead agency in the government's crackdown against smuggling.

The coordination with the BoC, according to Mendoza, will pave the way for the LTO to ensure that no smuggled vehicles will be registered in any LTO offices across the country.

"I call on our regional directors and district heads to maintain close coordination with the BoC in your areas," Mendoza said.

"The LTO will provide all the necessary assistance to the BoC in ensuring that all imported motor vehicles are properly documented," he added.

The fight against smuggled vehicles also means preventing and eradicating criminal activities, Mendoza said.

Mendoza also called on the public to report any information that they may find helpful in preventing the entry of smuggled vehicles.
