BI supports movie about trafficking
Efforts to prevent trafficking through communication have the assistance of the Bureau of Immigration.
On 16 September 2023, Senator Mark Villar and Undersecretary Emmeline Villar hosted a special screening of the film Sound of Freedom, which the Immigration Protection and Border Enforcement Section officers attended.
According to I-PROBES, the film is based on the true story of a former CIA agent who, after saving a boy from vicious child traffickers, finds that the boy's sister is still held hostage and decides to go on a risky operation to rescue her.
In an effort to save her from a fate worse than death, he quits his job and ventures deep into the Colombian forest.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco expressed his support for the initiative, stating that communication is important to open up conversations about trafficking.
"It is happening right under our noses," Tansingco said. "Efforts like this are important because they start conversations about what trafficking is," the BI chief stated.
The BI, together with numerous government agencies, is a member of the inter-agency council against trafficking.
