The giraffe is a fascinating animal endemic to Africa. Its long neck and legs make it the tallest quadruped, reaching 20 feet from its hoofs to the top of its head. A spotted coat is another distinct feature of the giraffe.
But one giraffe in Bright's Zoo in Tennessee is even more unique.
Born on 13 July, this giraffe has no spots, making it very rare, according to zoo director David Bright. Colored brown, the still-nameless animal has no natural camouflage.
Another characteristic of the giraffe has inspired a cafe in the Harajuku district of Tokyo to develop sleeping pods for customers needing to catch a few winks, News on Japan reported.
Customers of Nestle Cafe can take a nap in its phone booth-size Giraffepod for 825 yen for 30 minutes. In a video of the Giraffepod, the cafe manager said customers can take a power nap inside the booth like giraffes do, standing up, the South China Morning Post reported.
The booth has built-in cushions designed to let customers sleep like a giraffe. Users don't lie down. Instead, pillows behind their behinds and knees keep them standing. A door gives them privacy and keeps cafe noise out.
Nestle Cafe has had the Giraffepod on its menu since 2017, attracting more patrons.
