‘Pinoy’ South Korean arrested

‘Pinoy’ South Korean arrested

The Bureau of Immigration arrested a South Korean national for pretending to be a Filipino in Davao City.

The suspect, identified as Kim Jinkoon, was arrested on 5 September at Sitio Mojon in Barangay Langub, Davao City.

BI Intelligence Deputy Chief for Mindanao Melody Penelope Gonzales said that Kim was arrested following a report from the Department of Foreign Affairs Region 11.

DFA Region 11 said that Kim presented himself as a Filipino and insisted on applying for a Philippine passport. He presented identification cards and claimed that his name was Allan Sun Duran.

However, upon verification with the South Korean government, it was found that Kim is a fugitive from justice in South Korea, facing a total of seven cases filed against him. His passport had also been cancelled by the South Korean government, making him an undocumented alien.

Kim initially refused his arrest, insisting that he was a Filipino. However, he later admitted that he obtained his Philippine birth certificate in 2008 through an unidentified Filipina fixer.
