BARMM constructs Basilan dorms

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao — through the Ministry of Public Works — has built two dormitories worth P42 million for the Basilan State College satellite campus in Lamitan City.
The fund was drawn from the contingency of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim for the construction of the two dormitories, which are now 85 percent completed. They are expected to be finished by the end of this year.
BARMM-MPW Basilan District Engineer Kasim A. Hasanin on Sunday narrated that the male and female dormitories are undergoing finishing touches and the installation of the ceiling, electrical connections, installation of windows and paintings.
Each dormitory is a two-story edifice with a floor area of 430 square meters and consists of about 12 rooms on the ground floor and 16 rooms on the second floor of each building and are equipped with all the necessary amenities that a college student needs, including a study center and a conference room on the rooftop.
"Those students who wanted to concentrate on their studies and those living in far municipalities of the province will be given priority by the school administration to stay at the dormitory," Hasanin said.
The dormitories can accommodate about 120 students each and will be prioritized for students who want to concentrate on their studies and those who live in far-flung municipalities of the province.
The MPW took over the construction of the two buildings after they observed that the phase of completion of the project was very slow. MPW District Engineer Kasim Hasanin said that he wants all infrastructure projects in the province financed by BARMM through the MPW to be completed on time.
BSC's main campus is located in Isabela City, with satellite campuses in Lamitan City, Maluso, Tipo-Tipo, and an agricultural campus in Santa Clara in Isabela City.
