North Korea would pay a price.

This was the warning of the United States to Pyongyang if it forges a weapons deal with Russia.

The White House issued the threat in Washington on Tuesday ahead of a looming talks between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

US President Joe Biden's national security advisor Jake Sullivan has said that Pyongyang could trade munitions and missiles to Russia for satellite and nuclear submarine technology as well as food.

Sullivan said Tuesday Russia could use weapons from North Korea to attack food supplies and heating infrastructure heading into winter to "try to conquer territory that belongs to another sovereign nation."

"This is not going to reflect well on North Korea and they will pay a price for this in the international community," Sullivan said without elaborating.

The Kremlin declined to comment on the reported summit between Kim and Putin in Vladivostok.

The US warned last week that Russia was already in secret talks with the North to acquire a range of munitions and supplies for Moscow's war effort.
