BI welcomes new immigration officers
The Bureau of Immigration on Friday announced that it has welcomed a total of 108 new immigration officers who graduated from the BI academy which marked the culmination of their training at the Philippine Immigration Academy.
In a statement, the BI said that the new batch of immigration officers is composed of four classes who were trained in various aspects of immigration law, border security protocols, and efficient passenger processing procedures.
These newly-minted officers are now poised to take up their duties across various offices of the Bureau, including the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, where their presence will bolster manpower and enhance the efficiency of immigration operations.
Meantime, Senator Francis Tolentino — who was guest of honor in the event — told the graduates that the most important part of their job is protecting national security by identifying and preventing the entry of individuals who may pose a risk to public safety.
He likewise acknowledged that immigration officers receive criticism online but urged new officers to remain steadfast in their duties.
BI commissioner Norman Tansingco, on the other hand, stressed that it marked a significant milestone as they welcome the 108 new immigration officers to their committed team.
"These graduates have demonstrated commitment throughout their training, and they are confident in their abilities to serve our country and protect our borders with unwavering dedication," Tansingco said.
